Douze pierres (Josué 4.3). Il y a dans ces mots du narrateur, comme dans l'acte d'Elie lui-même, une protestation implicite contre le schisme.

Israël sera ton nom. Cette citation de Genèse 32.29 ; 35.10, qui peut avoir fait partie du discours d'Elie, rappelle en tout cas que le peuple des dix tribus ne mérite son nom d'Israël qu'autant qu'il ne rompt pas l'union avec les deux tribus du royaume de Juda.
