Trois fois dans l'année. Jusqu'alors on sacrifiait encore sur les hauts-lieux ; dès maintenant le culte fut concentré, conformément à Deutéronome 12.4 et suivants, dans le temple, qui devint le rendez-vous des tribus. Selon l'antique loi mosaïque, ces grands rassemblements nationaux avaient lieu à Pâques, à Pentecôte (fête des Semaines) et à la fête des Tabernacles. C'était dans ces occasions solennelles que Salomon offrait un sacrifice plus considérable que l'offrande journalière de l'holocauste et du parfum.

Salomon offrait, évidemment faisait offrir (comme au verset 26 construisit pour fit construire) par les personnes chargées de cet office, les Lévites et les sacrificateurs.

De l'encens. Il ne s'agit pas du parfum qui s'offrait journellement sur l'autel d'or, mais de celui qui accompagnait les gâteaux sacrés offerts avec les victimes d'actions de grâces sur l'autel des holocaustes.

La maison fut définitivement constituée : il acheva de faire de la maison ce qu'elle devait être, le sanctuaire national.
