Les lecteurs pouvaient tenter de justifier l'accueil fait aux riches par le commandement de l'amour du prochain Jacques leur concède (sans doute) que cet accueil est en soi une action louable ; mais il leur rappelle que ce même précepte, ils le violent en recevant mal le pauvre.

Loi souveraine, qui domine toutes les autres, d'où elles dépendent. (Matthieu 22.39,40 ; Romains 13.9,10) Elle est selon l'Ecriture, parce qu'elle est contenue dans l'Ecriture et conforme à son esprit.
