16 et 17 Continuation de la menace, sans mélange de promesses.

Les images des pêcheurs et des chasseurs représentent deux phases de l'invasion ennemie : d'abord la capture des populations en masse par l'occupation générale du pays (Amos 4.2) ; puis la chasse donnée aux fuyards isolés (Juges 6.2). Hérodote décrit VI, 31, en se servant des mêmes termes que Jérémie, cette pêche et cette chasse à l'homme, que pratiquaient les anciens conquérants d'Asie.
