Comparez 17.19-20.

Descends, c'est-à-dire du temple, qui occupait le sommet de la colline de Sion ; comparez 36.12 ; 26.10, ici, comme au chapitre 7, le prophète doit parler dans un lieu officiel ; là, c'était devant le temple ; ici, devant le palais royal.

La justice est recommandée, la destruction est annoncée, en cas de désobéissance. (Jérémie 22:1-9)

Le texte indique que le roi de Juda, était assis sur le trône de David, l'homme qui avait connu la faveur de l'Éternel.

Le roi était invité à suivre l'exemple de son prédécesseur, afin qu'il puisse tirer avantage des Promesses divines qui lui avaient été faites.

Pour préserver un gouvernement, il faut, en tant que dirigeant, accomplir son devoir. Mais le péché allait être à l'origine de la ruine des princes et de leurs maisons, ainsi que des différents personnages de la cour.

Qui peut faire face aux destructeurs mis en place pour accomplir les plans préparés par Dieu ? Ce Dernier ne détruit ni les personnes, ni les villes, ni les nations, il éradique en fait simplement le péché. Il envoie souvent assez distinctement la punition, qu'Il a préparée pour les différents crimes commis ici-bas ; cette sanction sera par contre parfaitement claire, au jour du Jugement.
