Dans la nuit qui suivit l'envoi de ce message à Ézéchias, le corps principal de l'armée Assyrienne fut massacré.

Remarquez au passage, comment les hommes les plus forts se trouvent vulnérables devant le Dieu Tout-Puissant ! Qui n'a jamais endurci son cœur contre Lui, tout en prospérant ?

Le roi d'Assyrie devint en quelque sorte, le meurtrier de ses propres fils.

Ceux dont les enfants n'accomplissent pas leur devoir, devraient se demander si leur conduite est bien en règle devant le Père céleste. L'histoire relatée dans ce texte, manifeste clairement l'avantage que l'on trouve en plaçant sa confiance en Dieu. Ce Dernier affligera peut-être les Siens, mais Il ne les abandonnera jamais. Il est bon que nos épreuves nous incitent à nous mettre à genoux ! Le Seigneur ne réprimande-t-il pas parfois notre incrédulité ? Combien sommes-nous peu disposés à nous reposer sur les promesses divines ! Combien sommes-nous toujours désireux de connaître de quelle manière le Seigneur nous délivrera ! Sachons en fait, attendre l'accomplissement de Sa Parole. Seigneur, viens au secours de notre incrédulité, Marc 9:24 !
