Segond 21 Un homme arriva de Baal-Shalisha. Il apportait dans son sac du pain de la première fournée pour l'homme de Dieu : 20 pains d'orge et de blé nouveau. Elisée dit : « Donnes-en à ces gens et qu'ils mangent. »

Segond 1910 Un homme arriva de Baal Schalischa. Il apporta du pain des prémices à l'homme de Dieu, vingt pains d'orge, et des épis nouveaux dans son sac. Élisée dit : Donne à ces gens, et qu'ils mangent.

World English Bible A man from Baal Shalishah came, and brought the man of God bread of the first fruits, twenty loaves of barley, and fresh ears of grain in his sack. He said, "Give to the people, that they may eat."

Baal-Salisa : peut-être identique avec Salisa de 1Samuel 9.4 ou avec un Beth-Salisa dont parlent Eusèbe et Jérôme, à 25 km au nord de Lydde.

Apporta à l'homme de Dieu. D'après Nombres 18.13 et Deutéronome 18.4, les prémices de tous les produits du pays devaient être apportées à l'Eternel pour l'entretien des sacrificateurs et des Lévites. Cet Israélite pieux envisage le prophète et ses disciples comme les porteurs du vrai sacerdoce.

Du grain frais, rôti dans l'épi, puis froissé et moulu (Lévitique 2.14).
