6 à 10 L'approche de l'ennemi, la chute de Babylone et de ses idoles et la délivrance d'Israël.

Après avoir dit ce qui se passera dans Babylone, au moment où elle sera prise, le prophète revient en arrière pour décrire l'arrivée de ceux qui ont mission de la détruire.

Une sentinelle. Ailleurs, le prophète est lui-même la sentinelle (versets 11 et 12 ; Habakuk 2.1). Ici, il place (en imagination) une sentinelle qui doit lui signaler l'approche de l'armée envoyée pour détruire Babylone. Comparez 2Samuel 18.24-27 ; 2Rois 9.17-20
