World English Bible Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary; and I will make Jacob a curse, and Israel an insult."

C'est donc avec justice qu'Israël a été frappé. Les princes du sanctuaire les sacrificateurs, ont été déshonorés c'est-à-dire dégradés, à l'image d'Aaron dépouillé de ses vêtements sacerdotaux : ils ont été destitués de leur ministère et traînés en exil. Israël a été mis à l'interdit (comme Edom 34.5) : il est devenu aux yeux des peuples un monument de la malédiction divine et par là même l'objet de leur risée et de leurs mauvais traitements.
