Ephésiens 6.1

Quant à vous, les enfants, puisque vous êtes en communion avec le Seigneur, cette subordination signifie que vous obéissiez à vos parents comme au Seigneur lui-même. C’est là ce qui est juste, bon et conforme à sa volonté.

Le principal devoir des enfants est d'obéir à leurs parents. Cette obéissance inclut le respect sous toutes ses formes ; toutes les époques de prospérité se sont distinguées par l’obéissance des enfants à leurs parents.

Quels sont les devoirs des parents ? - Ne soyez pas impatients ; - N'usez pas de sévérité inconsidérée ; - Conduisez vos enfants avec prudence et sagesse ; - Développez leurs jugements et leurs raisonnements. - Élevez-les correctement, usant de corrections adéquates et compatissantes, dans la connaissance du devoir que Dieu exige.

Souvent, hélas, ce dernier devoir est négligé, même parmi ceux qui professent l'Évangile. Beaucoup de personnes poussent leurs enfants à se rebeller contre la piété ; cette tendance n'excuse en aucune manière la désobéissance des enfants, bien que cela puisse les entraîner parfois sur une pente dangereuse...

Dieu seul peut changer le cœur, cependant Il accorde Sa bénédiction aux parents qui élèvent convenablement leurs enfants, et Il répond à leurs prières.

Ceux dont le principal souci n’est que la réussite et la prospérité de leurs enfants, quoi qu'il advienne de leur âme, ne doivent pas s’attendre à recevoir une grande bénédiction divine...
