World English Bible As often as it passes through, it will seize you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be nothing but terror to understand the message."

Demain et demain encore... Il y a ici l'idée de plusieurs jugements successifs (comme 6.11-13). Le prophète n'a donc pas en vue seulement l'invasion de Sanchérib, mais d'autres invasions subséquentes, et au terme la captivité.

La terreur seule fera la leçon : traduction très littérale et qui donne un sens d'une grande vivacité. C'est une allusion évidente au discours des moqueurs, verset 9 (comparez l'expression faire la leçon et verset 13) : cette leçon de la parole prophétique qu'ils trouvaient fatigante, c'est par la terreur qu'ils éprouveront sous les coups redoublés de l'ennemi, qu'elle leur sera inculquée.
