Hébreu / Grec - Texte original © ὃς οὐκ ἔχει καθ’ ἡμέραν ἀνάγκην, ὥσπερ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς, πρότερον ὑπὲρ τῶν ἰδίων ἁμαρτιῶν θυσίας ἀναφέρειν, ἔπειτα τῶν τοῦ λαοῦ (τοῦτο γὰρ ἐποίησεν ἐφάπαξ ἑαυτὸν ἀνενέγκας)·

World English Bible who doesn't need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.

Sur la sainteté parfaite de Jésus Christ, qu'il vient d'exprimer en termes si clairs et si forts, (Hébreux 7.26) l'auteur fonde cette double et importante vérité : d'abord que le Sauveur n'a pas, comme les souverains sacrificateurs, besoin d'offrir des sacrifices pour lui-même, mais qu'en s'offrant lui-même comme victime, (comparez Hébreux 9, où ce sacrifice est décrit plus au long) il l'a fait pour les péchés du peuple ; et ensuite, qu'il n'a nullement besoin de réitérer tous les jours ce sacrifice offert une fois pour toutes, et dont la valeur est infinie et perpétuelle devant Dieu. (Comparer Romains 6.10 ; Hébreux 9.12,26,20 ; 10.10 ; 1Pierre 3.18)

Ainsi, à ces deux égards, les sacrifices imparfaits et symboliques de l'ancienne Alliance sont parfaitement réalisés par le sacrifice de Golgotha.

- En disant que les souverains sacrificateurs offraient des victimes tous les jours, l'auteur entend le service journalier de la sacrificature, dans lequel la loi prescrivait un sacrifice quotidien, (Nombres 28.3-8) il n'oublie pas que le souverain sacrificateur n'offrait qu'une fois par année le sacrifice d'expiation dans le lieu très saint. (Hébreux 9.6,7 ; 10.3)

      Exode 29

      36 Every day you shall offer the bull of sin offering for atonement: and you shall cleanse the altar, when you make atonement for it; and you shall anoint it, to sanctify it.
      37 Seven days you shall make atonement for the altar, and sanctify it: and the altar shall be most holy; whatever touches the altar shall be holy.
      38 "Now this is that which you shall offer on the altar: two lambs a year old day by day continually.
      39 The one lamb you shall offer in the morning; and the other lamb you shall offer at evening:
      40 and with the one lamb a tenth part of an ephah of fine flour mixed with the fourth part of a hin of beaten oil, and the fourth part of a hin of wine for a drink offering.
      41 The other lamb you shall offer at evening, and shall do to it according to the meal offering of the morning, and according to its drink offering, for a pleasant aroma, an offering made by fire to Yahweh.
      42 It shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the Tent of Meeting before Yahweh, where I will meet with you, to speak there to you.

      7 The priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of sweet incense before Yahweh, which is in the Tent of Meeting; and he shall pour out all of rest of the blood of the bull at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
      8 He shall take all the fat of the bull of the sin offering off of it; the fat that covers the innards, and all the fat that is on the innards,
      9 and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the loins, and the cover on the liver, with the kidneys, he shall take away,
      10 as it is taken off of the bull of the sacrifice of peace offerings. The priest shall burn them on the altar of burnt offering.
      11 The bull's skin, all its flesh, with its head, and with its legs, its innards, and its dung,
      12 even the whole bull shall he carry forth outside the camp to a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire. Where the ashes are poured out it shall be burned.
      13 "'If the whole congregation of Israel sins, and the thing is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done any of the things which Yahweh has commanded not to be done, and are guilty;
      14 when the sin in which they have sinned is known, then the assembly shall offer a young bull for a sin offering, and bring it before the Tent of Meeting.
      15 The elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the head of the bull before Yahweh; and the bull shall be killed before Yahweh.
      16 The anointed priest shall bring of the blood of the bull to the Tent of Meeting:
      17 and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before Yahweh, before the veil.
      18 He shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar which is before Yahweh, that is in the Tent of Meeting; and the rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
      19 All its fat he shall take from it, and burn it on the altar.
      20 Thus shall he do with the bull; as he did with the bull of the sin offering, so shall he do with this; and the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven.

      18 He also killed the bull and the ram, the sacrifice of peace offerings, which was for the people: and Aaron's sons delivered to him the blood, which he sprinkled around on the altar,
      19 and the fat of the bull and of the ram, the fat tail, and that which covers the innards, and the kidneys, and the cover of the liver:
      20 and they put the fat upon the breasts, and he burned the fat on the altar:
      21 and the breasts and the right thigh Aaron waved for a wave offering before Yahweh, as Moses commanded.
      22 Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people, and blessed them; and he came down from offering the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings.

      10 this is the burnt offering of every Sabbath, besides the continual burnt offering, and the drink offering of it.

      Esaïe 53

      10 Yet it pleased Yahweh to bruise him. He has caused him to suffer. When you make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed. He shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Yahweh shall prosper in his hand.

      9 then he has said, "Behold, I have come to do your will." He takes away the first, that he may establish the second,
      10 by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
      11 Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and often offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins,
      12 but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;
