Les cheveux blancs doivent être honorés (Lévitique 19.32), et le fait de mourir dans une blanche vieillesse est toujours considéré comme une bénédiction. C'est la récompense d'une vie vouée à la justice. Ici, comme souvent, l'auteur pose la règle générale, sans se préoccuper des exceptions, telles que celle à laquelle fait allusion Osée 7.9.
